// You Wont Miss Me
From our friends over at Dossier Journal:
“Tonight is the theater premiere of Ry Russo Young’s You Wont Miss Me starring Stella Schnabel. The film has been shown at the MOMA and was a favorite at film festivals, but tonight marks its theatrical opening almost two years later. The film is a portrait of Shelly Brown, a rebellious young woman with a lot of emotional baggage. Mixing actors and non-actors, such as New York poet Rene Ricard, Russo-Young crafts a striking portrait of New York City and its youth, or lack of. Shot in different formats with multiple cameras, the film is at once fiercely intimate and distant, all the while beautiful. Tonight and tomorrow’s 7pm features will have a Q & A session with the director and Stella Schnabel after the film. If you can’t make it this weekend you can catch it during its run at The Cinema Village, a venue with a long-standing tradition of supporting independent and provocative movies. (Editor’s note- The lack of apostrophe in You Won’t Miss Me is intentional. )”
An amazing treat for those of you in the New York area. Check the film’s official website for updates on releases in theatres around the country.
